Crested Gecko Cage Plans

WHY 'THE RUSSIAN I was not convinced

My personal and humble opinion about the death of the soldier Luca Sanna differs substantially from that ammanitaci Minister La Russa that, sometimes, I think people take us for fools. I am convinced that the poor know was killed by friendly fire: a peasant from Afghanistan that awkward, not knowing how to handle a gun, fired by mistake.

The reconstruction of the Alpine Sardinian death and wounding of Corporal Luke Barisonzi provided in the House yesterday by the holder of Defense is the opposite and it was not very different from that on Tuesday at a press conference. Some clarifications: man posing as an ally who shot "was an undercover army" and was therefore one of the eight who served with the ten nell'avamposto Highlander Italian soldiers. It is not clear that he wore uniform.

You say how can you deny the words of the minister, Jordan dear, what proof do you have? I answer with a question. The minister who has evidence that it was an infiltrator? He arrested the man? She found the associates? He got a tip? No, Russia is a hypothesis. Which I believe does not stand up and then make my articles about common sense and what little I know, not Bala Murghab, but Afghanistan and the human condition.

According to the Minister, the Taliban have orchestrated the action. Accipiacchia! The Taliban have become like the CIA, refined as a secret service at the highest levels. Enough with the IED along the rough roads, there is now a new threat refined. They make the selection, and so do a course of three months one of them, they do Murghab be up to them to implement the bang. And that is infiltrated? You take command of Camp Arena and kill the Italian commander in Herat? Blasts Santa Barbara? Take decisive information to kill a whole platoon? No, take and shoot a poor soldier with the rank of corporal, which is one of the lowest grades of the army. A soldier, who removed, the damage is immediately rearranged. Actions of high psychological impact but no effect on the military. But let's just take us for fools ...?

The truth seems to me another one: is that NATO does not want to admit that has not even been able to train his new army made from 300 thousand farmers who have never seen a gun in their lives, who are mostly illiterate and make war because it is the only job available and perhaps less likely with the military that with the Taliban. Enough with the myth Afghan warrior who always has a rifle on his shoulder. But you know how much it costs - I do not say a gun - but a bullet? Do you know how much money a farmer? You know that people over thirty million people is established as the peoples of the world except a handful of fighters (10-Taliban 20 thousand, 300 thousand between soldat police)?
only common sense.

not say that the Taliban have not thought to infiltrate (if they have never thought La Russa has now given them an idea), has indeed already happened with that Jordanian who blew himself up in a den or CIA , more crudely, with suicide bombers disguised as police officers. A Washington troverebbero l'idea molto seducente.

Pertanto mi tengo my hug and the family of that poor Luca Sanna, she intended to hear from the Minister of the Republic yet another half-truth.

I must add that NATO this afternoon (my post was written this morning) has confirmed an incident in which an Afghan soldier killed a NATO military and wounded another. You do not say the nationality but it is quite clear, as pointed out by the BBC, which we refer to that episode. NATO took two days to break the news (which she likes) but seems to contradict the certainties of the Russian ...

( point out to my readers who found the comment at the bottom of the page and that disputes with other elements, my reconstruction the facts. Worth, I believe, be read and taken into account )

SCHOOL, WOMEN AND TALIBAN: The fate of the "weaker sex"

will true, be half true, it will be false? According to the Afghan Education Minister Farooq Wardak, the Taliban would be prepared to make waste paper of the old contract that characterized the emirate e cioè il divieto di far andare a scuola le donne.

E per esser del tutto sinceri, anche durante i tempi bui dell'emirato si poteva attend some lessons where the audience was female. The rule closely related to the separation between males and females, as yet another case in Afghanistan today. The Taliban were not really against female education altogether. But the limits were very clear: rigid separation from the males, male teachers, denied access to higher education. Now the attitude is changing.

In Afghanistan
school for women has always been a taboo. With rare exceptions. Even today, as evidenced by a UN report released in December, being a woman in this country really means to be "weaker sex" second-class citizens: apart from the restrictions on education (not there is no control or punishment if a family does not send their daughters to school), there are still arranged marriages, women used as a bargaining chip in land transactions, forced marriages with minors. All things now prohibited (the law is more advanced in August of 2009) and sanctions (on paper). A law is not enough to change ingrained traditions and very general interpretation of the Qur'an (as the Prophet forbade the marriages with minors, a practice permitted by tribal codes instead). How
education, Farooq has pitted the results that, in fact, are one of the few happy legacies of the war: During the Taliban, he said, about a million students, the percentage of females was zero and the same was true for female teachers and now the figures are 38 and 30%.

Certainly the minister has exaggerated (during the Taliban, the percentage was higher) and, secondly, even if 38% is very, female illiteracy in Afghanistan is more than double that of men and therefore Karzai has something to blame. It 'true that the education sector in the polls appears to be one where the Afghans said they saw the greatest impact. But women's empowerment also involves access to basic services in a country among the last in the standings with regard to the safety of pregnancy and childbirth. Issues here that make their way, even among the Taliban who, in ten years, have changed. Motion obscurantist Pashtuns now proposed as the national liberation movement across extent that many fighters of different ethnic backgrounds have been appointed military leaders. Paradoxes of the war.

WASHINGTON AND ISLAMABAD

Tanto che Biden arriverà a Islamabad con aiuti on several fronts, especially the military. Also put out by the burden of criticism more or less official, for the entire month of December, have punctuated the public statements and files "secret" finished in the newspapers. Washington, moreover, does not have many choices in front of the executive and Gilani, however, still a civilian government and a friendly government, it is best to survive and above all to himself that he can continue to enjoy the support of the U.S. economic and military. Best of a bad situation. Gilani to demonstrate that it is a confidence well placed.

The AFGHANISTAN

With a suicide attack in a crowded public bathroom Spin Boldak, a village on the border with Pakistan in the province meridionale di Kandahar, i talebani hanno ucciso ieri almeno 17 persone ferendone un'altra ventina.

Cuts but does not undermine the defense spending for the troops in Afghanistan. With that

the Washington Post has called a "first time" since the end of the Cold War, the U.S. defense is now resigned to the fact that the rate of growth of military spending is not sustainable. The gap, however, administration will not affect too much and especially do not touch the military spending for Afghanistan and Iraq. The 553 billion for 2011 that the White House has proposed to the owner of the Pentagon, Robert Gates, it will cut 78 billion in five years (the Administration's request was 150) and one to understand American newspapers, something should be spared even with the withdrawal of troops engaged in Afghanistan scheduled for July. But how will the military to go home? It is said by a few thousand to twenty thousand but they are only rumors.

Printing Afghan ago bearer instead of other concerns. The reduction of the military budget is in fact quite insignificant when you look at that for the civil expenditure in Afghanistan, which is funding the reconstruction. According ToloNews Congress would drastically reduce the new civilian program so far cost the Administration, since 2002, 56 billion dollars. Republicans are doing the heavy-handed: you keep the military commitment think that the sacrifices should be made on the calendar with a cut "fat" that Democrats want to avoid. For now, though the amount of the transaction is not known. On the political front

things stagnate: the last good news was the indirect political recognition of the Taliban as part of Karzai's policy of negotiation as (but not everyone agrees with him in his government) said he was ready to greet the birth of an office of the guerrillas in a third country, such as Turkey. Partners in a sense ideal (part of NATO but boasts that he never killed an Afghan), Ankara has some ambition. But it has to deal with the Saudis and Pakistanis. And of course with the Americans.

Tanzania Honeymoon, Who To Book With?

THE MINISTER OF VICTIMS IN CAMOUFLAGE CAMOUFLAGE AGAINST ALL DOUBTS ON KABUL

After fighting with the Taliban, which was the last victim of the Corporal Italian Matteo Miotto, comes a clash between armed forces and minister. A confrontation at a white heat and that the holder of Defense chooses to shine right in Gulistan, the district where cursed Miotto is dead. But how he died?

Ignazio La Russa, muscular look and decisions, says a tooth out. How he died Miotto not even know him because the military told him: "It was given to me either that part of the news that put the event in an exchange of fire lasted several minutes. Then maybe actually a single sniper shot, but certainly there was the presence of other people with arms. The prevailing hypothesis - add Russia - is that he shot one person with the sniper rifle ... for sure there was an exchange of fire lasted several minutes, at which the Italians and the same was attended by Miotto, reacting promptly. " In short, La Russa said the soldiers half-truths, sweetened, uncertain: "In all this I found a bit of the old setting to tell a truth that no alarms. I am however convinced that truth is not alarming and ever, in this case, it should be said first of all to the end of respect for Matthew Miotto.

It 'a real lunge against Italian soldiers in which many MPs are now demanding to report to the rooms. But it is also a hook Camporini a few days at the summit from the alternation of the Armed Forces Chief of Staff of Defense, the person against whom Russia has never had very tender feelings. Dislike, apparently reciprocated (the assignment expires Jan. 17: Defense Superior Council of Magistrates appointed in November 2007, saw his term extended twice. Biagio will be replaced by Abraham).

Returning Gulistan affair, but the Minister will forgive even if, understand it, the notice to those who will replace Camporini is clear: "We must not forget everything that has happened the last year, at a base far away, and that the news was fragmented: this is a big mitigating factor. I was told - he adds - that I have been given certain information and that they preferred not to give me those were not confirmed 100%.

I'll take it for good, so much so that there will be no consequences. I do not want to accuse anyone, but I want to reiterate that my teaching, let's call it, is that of transparency. There is nothing to hide. "

PALAU

What is the origin of Kabuli Palau , what now seems to be the Afghan national dish, both in restaurants in major dinners or weddings? Since I frequent in Afghanistan, namely the mid-seventies, this pilaf (or pilaf) cooked with almonds, raisins and carrots I had always thought the Afghan dish par excellence. But some friends I have made you doubt, first, that his name is not original but qabili kabuli palau palau and therefore the plate does not refer to the capital city but to another source: Turkmen, Uzbeks, or I have suggested.

References I found by consulting the surface of the Network, are saying that the Afghan palau or shovel (پلاو pulao / Pula in Pashto) is cooked in ways other than Uzbekistan ( Palov, osh ) * even if not exactly as Persian. I mean, what a mess. It seems that Alexander the Great in Bactria came across pilaf and that its army has been brought home, if not the recipe that long rice (in greek pilaf ) and inevitable in the preparation of pilaf but this was very different systems of cooking and is a thousand miles away from our risotto (both for preparing both for the raw material), although an Indian or a Chinese, our risotto looks like a (bad) version of pilaf.

The thing now is to figure out if qabili is only a linguistic contamination of Kabul, or vice versa, and whether and how the time has also made him this dish by dish in the capital and national dish. And if it was pilav Uzbekistan, Turkmen, Persian qabili to transform from Kabul, or even to take the place of an otherwise cooked rice in vogue decades ago. To my friends say that Afghans in the fifties were exiled to Italy, their home was not the Afghan pilaf Kabuli Palau but the current rice cooked in a manner very similar to Persian. That Kabul, when it was prepared, it was nothing more than a qabili ...

The fact is that now in Afghanistan, but this was already true in the seventies, blowin 'Kabuli Palau. I wonder if the end of the sixties as the seventies, when tourism began to discover Afghanistan, the restaurateurs have not chosen this qabili, one of the many variant pilaf, maybe that was particularly attractive as exotic to the early Western patrons. Or if it was the house of Zaher Shah, or the time of Daud to impose it as happens in so many fashions that pass through the kitchen and taste imposing on others.

Ma mia madre, lombarda con origini venete, told me that the pasta had never peeped into his house before the Second World War. If anything, polenta and rice. But now you say that pasta is not the ultimate Italian dish with pizza? Yet only fifty years ago, pasta was eaten only in southern Italy. We were Kabuli rice and peas, saffron risotto and casseula. Not to mention Friday's lean. And who remembers the most?

ASSANGE

"The only route that a journalist, 'and must comply with' the train ..."
Albert Londres

As so often with striking and disturbing phenomena, as is the case, Wikileaks and its guru Julian Assange, the audience is divided strictly into two factions. About condemnation, coming to believe the site's activity a challenge to national security and Assange a new generation of terrorist, and who welcomes the advent of a new era sanctified by the presence of a lone knight, heroic and fearless.

As far as I am concerned are among those who serve in the second row, with some distinction: I have signed petitions for Assange, wrote articles about him and I drank the sources of Wikileaks. But with all due respect to Julian and thankfulness for hidden files intelligible hours, I do not think, as someone said, this is a revolution. Above all, I do not think Wikileaks will change journalism and journalists, even if, indeed, today we know more. But I think that Wikileaks is a boon for historians who need to document much more than we journalists that news is often confided to the short routes, in some passage or some coffee. On the way short. If indeed we used to consider the news of the secret cable to work with, because it is (was) a secret so attractive port of call, would be the end of journalism, a profession already in big crisis ... JOURNALISTS AND ALSO A MURDER ON THE CRISIS OF THE DEATH OF GILAN

Governor of Punjab and prominent leaders of Pakistan People's Party, which has the relative majority in the country, was shot yesterday morning by his bodyguard in the heart of the capital Islamabad, a residential and commercial area surrounded by cafes and shops. As the agent he admitted, Salmaan Taseer would pay with his life for his stance in favor of grace for Asia Bibi, a Christian woman sentenced to death for allegedly insulting the Prophet Muhammad. Malik Mumtaz Qadri, his murderess, has confessed to killing the governor of the province of the country's most populous and important because Taseer was among those who had asked for clemency "Sakineh Pakistan." Asia Bibi was in fact addressed to the Governor of Punjab and asked him to work to avoid the death penalty. It had received the promise of a direct appeal to Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari (for more favorable to close a case that once again puts his country in a bad light).

However, at a time of tense political framework of the country, the assassination of a key part of the PPP - the party just the same as for Zardari and Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani - creates an element of disturbance not unimportant which makes it even more complex negotiations of these hours that are involved the executive in an attempt to involve some opposition parties, after two coalition partners have left the government missed Gilani doing the necessary votes to move forward. MIOTTO and a few on Gulistan

For the second time in a few months the Gulistan, the valley bordering the hottest areas of Afghanistan and under Italian jurisdiction, is another victim in New Year's morning, a sniper killed the corporal of Thiene Matteo Miotto, bringing to 35 the budget share of the Italian military deaths in Afghanistan.

The body of the soldier , moved to Rome today, will be shifted, after the customary public ceremony to be held in the capital on Monday in his hometown where the soldier had asked to be buried in the area dedicated to war dead of the local cemetery. He missed a handful of days before his return to Italy, where yet another death caused the reactions, as customary, that characterize attention to Afghanistan now that only death shatters the slumber. Among the requests for withdrawal of troops and confirm that in Afghanistan must be the father of soldier killed raises some questions: "... I have called his commanders from Afghanistan, saying that he had been struck in the shoulder - said Francesco Miotto - now we talk about a shot that would have reached the opposite .... there are versions that are not consistent. We want families to understand what happened. " It is not the only legitimate question to ask.

The district of Gulistan is an inaccessible area that insinuates itself between the boundaries of the provinces of Ghor and Helmand, the latter among the hottest areas of the whole Afghanistan. And 'one of the eleven districts of the province of Farah province, with those of Herat, Badghis, Ghor, falls under the jurisdiction of the Italian-led NATO command West. It 'right in the Gulistan, which took place last October the massacre of four mountain (Sebastian Villa, Marco Pedone, Francesco Gianni Manca Vannozzi and killed by a powerful explosion while escorting a Lynx with a column of civilian). Quite out of the game until a few years ago, the valley of Gulistan, which does not reach 60 thousand inhabitants, military never gave major problems if not sporadically. But things have changed. And the name in fact, unknown until a few months ago, now returns to be heard repeatedly.

must look a map and, by geography, try to understand why a place is so dangerous. E, soprattutto, non è facile farlo in un territorio in which the Americans have scorched earth and then move the hand to the Italians.

the deteriorating overall situation, therefore, is even worse than that on a warm front of which there is most likely the Gulistan, where, according to some sources, there is not only the pressure of the crime or the Taliban in Afghanistan, but where would move even the Iranians who seek in any way to check if indirectly areas near the border with his country. Build lasting relationships, say in Kabul, where the guerrilla training is provided and explosives. Hypothesis. But they say as the Gulistan is a bit 'more than a name of the geography of the country.
The question to ask is dunque in quali condizioni operano i soldati italiani.
